Superfast Pitta Bread Pizzas

So here is how to make my Superfast Pitta Bread Pizzas! This is the quick version, the original recipe involves cooking the tomato sauce with a few more ingredients and definitely has a fuller flavour (which means it is superior in terms of taste), but when you’re pressed for time this is a great alternative! If you like you can also add other toppings to the pizzas before topping with cheese to make a more wholesome meal. Enjoy this folks!

Makes 5 – 8 Pizzas

You will need for Superfast Pitta Bread Pizzas

5 – 8 pitta breads
1/3 can chopped tomatoes
1/3 tsp garlic powder
1/3 tsp salt OR to your taste
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/3 tsp oregano (use sparingly as this is quite strong)
grated cheese (as required, I always prefer to use mature cheddar for a fuller flavour)

Method:

1. Place 1/3 – 1/2 can of chopped tomatoes in a blender/food processor and add 1/3 tsp garlic powder
2. Add 1/3 tsp of salt OR adjust to your taste
3. Add 1/2 tsp basil
4. Add 1/3 tsp oregano
5. Blend till smooth
6. Place a dollop of tomato sauce on each pitta bread
7. Spread sauce evenly using a spatula
8. Sprinkle cheese on top
9. Grill for 5 – 7 minutes till cheese has melted. I don’t recommend baking the pizzas in the oven as the pitta breads dry out too much and don’t taste very nice. Enjoy your Pizzas with a side of your choice.

Made these last weekend, went down a treat! I added some extra toppings, salami, peppers and Sweetcorn. Shall definately be making them again, such a simple and quick snack.
